SAE J1772 Standard Connector
SAE J1772, after its international standard IEC 62196 Type 1. And it is also known as the J-type plug or Type 1 connector. It is the North American standard for electrical connectors for electric vehicles. It is maintained by the International Society of Automotive Engineers and is formally known as “SAE Surface Vehicle Recommended Practice J1772, SAE Electric Vehicle Conductive Charge Coupler”.
SAE maintains the general physical, electrical, and communication protocols and performance requirements for electric vehicle conduction charging systems and couplers. The intent is to define a common electric vehicle conductive charging system architecture. This includes operational requirements as well as functional and dimensional requirements for vehicle entry and mating connectors.
